UroPartners Urges Early Prostate Cancer Screening & Support for ZERO Chicago

The fight against prostate cancer is a race we run together, and here at UroPartners, we're continuously championing proactive health and community support. This mission was recently highlighted by Dr. Thomas Will of UroPartners during his appearance on ABC7 Chicago Streaming, where he underscored a vital message: early screening for prostate cancer can save lives.

UroPartners joined the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk in Chicago onSunday, September 21st, at Diversey Harbor, to support this powerful message.

The Power of Early Detection

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men. While a diagnosis can be daunting, the incredible news is that when detected early, prostate cancer is often highly treatable, and in many cases, curable.

Dr. Will emphasized that a simple conversation with your doctor and a PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) blood test are the first crucial steps. These screenings can identify potential issues before symptoms even appear, offering the best chance for successful intervention. This proactive approach allows for a range of options, from active surveillance to targeted treatments, all aimed at preserving your quality of life.

Why You Should Know Your Risk:

  • Age: Risk increases with age, especially after 50.
  • Family History: If your father, brother, or son had prostate cancer, your risk is higher.
  • Ethnicity: African American men have a higher risk and are more likely to develop aggressive forms of the disease.
  • Veterans: Studies show veterans are also at an increased risk.

Knowing your personal risk factors and discussing them with a board-certified urologist is paramount.

The ZERO Chicago Run/Walk

Beyond individual action, community support plays a monumental role in the fight against prostate cancer. That’s why UroPartners is incredibly proud to be the Signature Sponsor of the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk in Chicago.

Hundreds gathered at Diversey Harbor, united by a shared goal: to raise awareness, provide vital patient support, and fund critical research towards a cure. It's a day of solidarity, remembrance, and hope.

Dr. Will encouraged everyone to come out and be a part of this inspiring event. Whether you run, walk, volunteer, or cheer from the sidelines, your presence makes a difference. Every step taken and every dollar raised directly impacts local screening programs and patient services right here in our Chicago community.
