John E. H. Milner M.D., FRCSC

Urologist

  • "I see Dr. Milner every other year it amazes me that he recalls I have a family member that is a urologist in another state!!! Comforting to know he makes an effort to recall who I am!"

"Dr. Milner is the best... I enjoy his bed side manner and his personality. He's a very good listener and makes me feel comfortable."

John E. H. Milner M.D., FRCSC

Dr. Milner attended, for 12 years, and held a celebrated “Red River Scholarship” from a private school in Canada of which Queen Elizabeth II is a royal patron (one of only two in the country). He completed his Undergraduate Scientific, Medical, and Residency training in Canada graduating at the top of his class with numerous awards for academics and research, such as the Bristol Laboratories of Canada Prize. He attained Canadian Urology Board certification in 2004 being among a few highly select candidates achieving distinguished “Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC)” status. Being eligible for his Canadian training, he succeeded in the U.S. Medical School and Residency Licensing Exams then achieved American Board of Urology certification, making him one of only a few Urologists who are dually board-certified to practice in both the United States and Canada. Based on his reputation for excellence, he was sought after by several prominent academic institutions in the United States, Canada, and Europe to pursue advanced fellowship training.

In 2004, though fully trained and credentialed to practice Urology, Dr. Milner chose to postpone practice in order to pursue advanced accredited Fellowship training in Endourology, Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery at Loyola University, Chicago. In 2005 and 2006, Dr. Milner continued his advanced training by completing two rigorous years of an accredited Multi-Organ Transplantation Fellowship at the University of Chicago. His feelings, when asked why he gave up the opportunity to practice Urology immediately in favor of seeking advanced training, is that “You can never be too over-trained for the needs of your patients. I preferred a comprehensive, accredited Fellowship training process in Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery rather than learning it on the job as some other Urologists have done. Patients are often concerned about how many cases a Urologist has performed, as they should be. When patients come to see me, they should feel confident in my abilities because I have achieved advanced training and approval by the Endourology Society to apply these techniques based on my additional years of commitment to learning how to perform these procedures properly. I have been performing these procedures for over ten years since my accreditation.”
